The Strypes 'You Can't Judge A Book By It's Cover' by Finn Keenan

David Knight - 22nd Oct 2013

Irish teen Modsters The Strypes show no fear in covering Bo Diddley's 1962 rock 'n roll stomper You Can't Judge A Book By It's Cover, and the video by Finn Keenan - who recently signed to JJ Stereo for music video representation in the UK - is suitably bold, inventive and fun.

The boys are performing in a blacked-out space full of old TVs - which also feature the boys performing the song. Its not just handy for transitions - Finn throws in some nice tricks including projections, a guitarist made of TVs. All of which might distract you from noticing that the drummer should surely be back in school. Primary school...

Finn Keenan: "For me the song has a relentless energy mixed with a cheeky confidence. We tried to visually emulate that energy with the use of continuous moving shots, stopping and starting to the beat of the song.

"I wanted to create a sense of uncertainty between illusion and reality. An illusion that the band, themselves, are orchestrating."
