The Ting Tings 'Wrong Club' by Lisa Paclet
Jimmy Brown - 21st July 2014
Filmed at an old Parisian warehouse, fashion director Lisa Paclet delivers this simple, stylish and effective promo for The Ting Tings' new single Wrong Club taken from their as-yet-untitled forthcoming album.
Beautifully choreographed by I Could Never Be A Dancer duo Oliver Casmayou and Carine Charaire, Lisa's promo sees singler Kate White put in an excellent performance as she dances around a light show.Â
LISA PACLET
"It’s an interesting song, as it has a very pop/70’s disco vibe which you can dance to, yet speaks to a feeling of alienation, of not belonging, and anti-conformism.
"I wanted to translate this dichotomy visually, using the codes of traditional pop performance based videos, yet bringing a slightly rougher edge and a subtle symbolic meaning to the clip.
"Katie dances inside a raw cement hangar surrounded by a cage of lasers that confine her to portions of a larger space.
The lasers directly represent the invisible barriers we construct in our minds, the codes we adhere to as we go through life, the Wrong Club".
