"The lyrical content of the song, and its siren-like central riff, immediately suggested a kind of riot to me. But in developing the idea from the earliest version of the script, we eventually stripped out all the negative aspects of the theme such as violence and looting, and boiled it down to borrowing the aesthetics of a riot to represent a kind of energetic stage invasion."
