Chairlift 'Crying In Public' by Allie Avital
Cat Velez - 15th Mar 2016
New York indie pop duo Chairlift have released a touching new video directed by Allie Avital, for Crying In Public.
And not unlike the image in Man Ray's photograph 'Larmes (Tears)' shot in 1930, the video focuses on a collection of glassy tears adorning lead singer Caroline Polachek's face. We follow our heavyhearted singer through the streets of New York as she inspects the natural tears formed by winter's frost thawing away, while still more tears collect on her face. And although her lyrics suggest that she is sorry for causing a scene, she never wipes the tears away, accepting the feeling of vulnerability without any shame.
