To commemorate the re-opening of Tate Modern, director-choreographer Holly Blakey has collaborated with songwriter Mabel (daughter of the fabulous Neneh Cherry) to create this high-fashion video project for her track Talk About Forever. 

Using Gustav Metzger’s 1965 piece Liquid Crystal Environment - an immersive light display using heat-sensitive liquid crystals exhibited at the Tate Modern as inspiration - the film sees Mabel and her band of dancers channelling their inner Aaliyah around the newly created space. With some carefully considered steadicam shots and some gripping contemporary dance, the resulting video is eyecatching to say the least. 

“As a kid I adored music videos with choreography," says Mabel. "Destiny’s Child routines were often rehearsed with my sister and then we forced our family to watch multiple performances. I wanted to try to do an up-to-date version of that, using Metzger’s Liquid Crystal Environment and the incredible Tate Modern building as our setting.”
