Art School Girlfriend 'Distance (Blank)' by Tom Dream
Lassamie Prasimay - 26th Sept 2018
Tom Dream captures sensual moments from a legendary English summer in his video for the atmospheric pop electronica of Art School Girlfriend.
Shot on 16mm by DoP David Wright, and using only available light, the film for Distance (Blank) invites the audience to, as Dream says "explore the emotional states of real people and relationships, stuck in situations they can't get past" through impressive compositions, and Art School Girlfriend's performance.
To that end, this makes excellent use Margate in Kent, Dream's hometown, which provides character and a stunning landscape of the setting sun over the water. Backdropped by those spectacular skies, Dream reveals that the shoot took place over one single evening.Â
"All of the locations are about a minute away from each other where I live in Margate, which made it possible to shoot in such a tight time period," he says. "I love shooting with a really stripped back crew and with friends for cast, it allows you to figure things out as you go, and make the best of things as they happen, like that stunning sunset!"
