Danny Brown 'Dirty Laundry' by Simon Cahn
Rob Ulitski - 12th Sept 2019
Simon Cahn's lo-fi, vérité energy, merged with Danny Brown's distinctive style and humour results in an aptly wild ride for Dirty Laundry, the lead-off single from his forthcoming album.
Portraying a pot-bellied psychotic cab driver, Brown speeds around Miami in his vehicle, picking up a selection of people who instantly regret their choice of ride.
Between rides, the new-look Brown starts kung fu fights in the street, visits a dive bar with a particularly unusual flautist and gets his laundry done. It's surreal, daft as a brush, but very fitting, and a great addition to the artist's unique videography.
Most of my close friends now aren’t rappers - they’re comedians and actors.
DANNY BROWN:
“This is my version of a stand-up comedy album. Most of my close friends now aren’t rappers - they’re comedians and actors. So I wanted to create something that mixed humour with music. Something that was funny but not parody.”
