HMLTD 'The West Is Dead' by Niall Trask

Promonews - 1st Nov 2019

Niall Trask brings us a witty metaphor on the decline of Western values for HMLTD, with scenarios that revive the iconoclastic spirit of Derek Jarman.

Lead singer Henry Chisholm takes a fair amount of punishment in his quest to prove the point that The West Is Dead - including being hung from the crossbar of a football goal in his boots. Plus there's some very sloppy shaving that'll make you want to avert your eyes.

NIALL TRASK:

"Some music business people came to me and said: 'Niall, can you spend a bunch of money on a video?' and I said: 'Yes, yes of course I can. Easy.' Then I went and filmed loads of cool stuff and shit on the Isle of Sheppey and made up a bunch of lies about how it was about really serious and poignant issues, exploring everything from toxic masculinity to capitalism to mental health to the pedestrianisation of Bury St Edmunds town centre."
