Confidence Man 'Does It Make You Feel Good?' by Schall & Schnabel
Rob Ulitski - 26th Nov 2019
Confidence Man channel their inner cult leader in regular collaborators Schall & Schnabel's video for Does It Make You Feel Good.
Opening in a shadowy cellar, we glide through the dark as a handful of black-clad figures perform minimalist choreography. The overhead lights power on, and we see CM's Janet Planet and Sugar Bones striking their own unusual poses.
Inside a dimly lit church, this concept continues with a highly absurd dance sequence in their underwear, as their "followers" - all in black, their oversized hats and gowns covering all their features - watch on. Then things get weirder: Planet and Bones master levitation, come into possession of live sheep, and other taxidermied animals, and perform further choreography with undergarments that light up like Christmas trees - à la the iconic Danger High Voltage by Electric Six.
This is bizarre, surreal, sweetly sexy - and very much in the spirit of previous Confidence Man videos by the irreverent and highly inventive German duo Schall & Schnabel. Impossible to tear your eyes away from.
