Moses Sumney gives into his darkest, most satisfying impulses in the self-directed video for Cut Me.
Across a collection of surreal, otherworldly vignettes, Sumney runs riot in an abandoned hospital with two other patients- dancing on caskets, performing on stage and taking on the roles of the non-existent staff.
The glossy, theatrical art direction places the concept very much in a dream world of Sumney’s creation, blurring the lines between reality and fiction. The performances are top-notch, adding a lively vibrance to the derelict location, and cleverly personifying the complex themes in the track.
"It is, amongst many things, a satirization of masochism and the medical industrial complex, and a chuckle in the face of Black Death," says Moses Sumney about his directorial debut. "I couldn’t have predicted it’d be released in our current climate. And yet..."
