Octavian ft. Future 'Rari' by Crowns & Owls

Rob Ulitski - 31st July 2020

Crowns & Owls direct a brooding visual for Octavian's Rari, featuring Future.

Known for balancing a fashion-forward aesthetic with boundary-pushing visuals, the moving image trio place Octavian in a sequence of abstract vignettes, mirroring the bittersweet emotion of the track.

Bloody and breathtaking, the video pays homage to retro 1980's aesthetics such as synthwave and outrun, the latter taking its name from the 1986 arcade game, and popularised through images of glitchy sunsets and neon gridlines.

The performances are spot-on, and Future's remote setup intercuts perfectly, a testament to the restless effort of the creative team on both sides of the Atlantic.

CROWNS & OWLS:

"Rari was formulated during lockdown and is the product of ungodly amounts of Zoom calls. Trying to orchestrate a shoot with two artists on either side of the Atlantic during a pandemic is pretty testing stuff but we’re so hyped that we have a video like this to show for it. We’re so lucky to have the producers we have in Javier and Greg who share exactly the same love and passion for each project as we do and consistently deliver.

"We’re also thankful to the team in the US who helped us nail Future’s cameo in the video and seamlessly plugged us into the director(s) chair via Zoom from New Cross to Miami.

"We came up with the idea of making a static Ferrari F40 appear as if it was speeding along using projection mapping and the video flowed from there. It’s a love story and we had fun with it. We hope you dig it!"
