Harry Deadman directs a breezy, carefree visual for new artist Finn Askew. 

Focused on simple, stylised performance setups, the video for Roses is a quirky interpretation of the lyrics and full of bold art direction and playful visual effects.

Our VFX-composed environments... really added to the dreamy, quirky feeling I was after.

"The concept behind the video was to have a performance-led video that was rich in colour and quirky by nature. I wanted the video to feel hazy and otherworldly - almost like a daydream. Because of the times we live in, I also knew I wanted the film to have no extras. Instead, we’d focus in on Finn and his captivating performance.

"After my first video call with Finn, I knew he would have the personality and charisma to lead the video! He was incredible to work with. This was his first music video shoot and he was so comfortable on set - I’ve never worked with someone who was so at ease in front of the camera. We hardly need any takes at each setup!

"In terms of the look and feel of the video - I wanted to create simple and stylised studio setups, which would show off Finn in colourful and beautifully composed scenarios. My film aesthetic is all about bold colours and highlighting the slightly absurd. I loved that Finn was also really into this style!

"What I love most about the video is our VFX-composed environments - the boat in water, the cloud swing and Finn 'sitting' on the tabletop. This really added to the dreamy and quirky feeling I was after.”
