Camelphat ft Yannis Philippakis 'Hypercolour' by Max Vatblé
Rob Ulitski - 26th Aug 2020
The world hits fast-forward in Max Vatblé's glorious end-of-Summer video for Camelphat's Hypercolour.
Shot and edited in time-lapse, we follow a young man (Nathan Faus) having a mindbending moment amid a swirl of activity around him on a holiday island. Time speeds up as he becomes incapacitated, and he embarks on a hypersaturated journey, emphasised by the colours, raw emotions, poetic moments, and the hypnotic lights of their environment.
DoP Robin Asselmeyer leans into the off-kilter concept with sweeping camera shots and unconventional angles, giving the concept a raw and dynamic aesthetic. This is ramped up with the addition of a mind-bending visual effects sequence towards the end of the video, representing a psychedelic mindset and a warped sense of space and time.
