Bloxx '5000 Miles' by Callum Lloyd-James

Rob Ulitski - 2nd Sept 2020

Callum Lloyd-James directs a punchy black and white promo for Bloxx's 5000 Miles.

Exploring the frustration of lockdown and being stuck in isolation, the video contrasts desolate city streets with a pulsating performance setup, visualising the anxiety and heartbreak of the lyrics.

CALLUM LLOYD JAMES:

It felt right to go with a more guerrilla style of filmmaking.

"The concept was born out of frustration of being trapped inside, having to confront yourself in a mirror everyday, thinking about the people you love and not being able to see them. The themes of the song felt very appropriate for the times we're living in.

"This was the first video we shot out of lockdown and so we took the opportunity to roam around London, dead at night, echoing the loneliness and desperation of the song whilst also capturing the city at a unique and strange time.

"Even the busiest parts of London can feel empty and soulless and so it felt right to go with a more guerrilla style of filmmaking. We had a plan but I also wanted to allow for the moment to take us to capture what came with that."
