Charlotte Jane 'Get It Right' by Charlie Watts
Rob Ulitski - 18th Dec 2020
Charlie Watts directs an introspective promo for rising pop artist Charlotte Jane.Â
Experimenting with reflections and mirrored effects, the videos sees Jane as a fly-on-the-wall spectator to a tumultuous relationship, intercut with beautifully stripped-back performance vignettes.Â
The locations play a key role in the concept, with each space representing the tangible heartbreak and doubt present in the track. The clever trickery of reflection vs reality adds an extra layer of meaning, as the two doppelgängers react in different ways, unable to come to an agreement. And DoP Dan McPake keeps a raw and authentic feel to the video with desaturated natural lighting and sedated camera movement.Â
"It was great to team up with Charlotte on this project," says Watts. "With the track itself being so considered and beautiful, we thought it only appropriate to create some interesting frames to accompany it."
