Eloise 'Who's She' by Nicolee Tsin
Rob Ulitski - 26th May 2021
Nicolee Tsin directs a dreamy one-take promo for up and coming pop sensation Eloise.
Backdropped by the London skyline at sunset, the choreography-based visual explores the dichotomic emotions of falling for someone, and having it pan out differently than you had hoped.
Adopting an old Hollywood-style theatricality in the movement, the piece feels warmly nostalgic, whilst also evoking universal feelings that each and every viewer will be able to relate to.
NICOLEE TSIN:
Movement is such a powerful language, it speaks more than words...
"The song ‘Who’s She’ is very personal to Eloise herself. As with all the other songs in her mini-album - they have this theme of love and they just feel very real, something we can all relate to as humans. Her vision was clear - a one-take video with choreography and we came to put the pieces together.
"The video for “Who’s She” dives into this complex feeling of being wanted but losing yourself in the process of loving. The choreography plays to this narrative of push-pull, combined with Gene Kelly-style dancing, an ode to the old Hollywood cinema. I really wanted to capture this fluttery sensation of butterflies when we’re living in the surreal moment of love then of course, once that disappears, we come back to reality, and it all feels quite empty.
"Eloise brings us to this dreamworld in her sounds, and with the visuals we were able to achieve that with the sunset and textures of the film. The intention of the one-take encourages this rawness in expression as well as in their movement. Movement is such a powerful language, it speaks more than words so, I think the main idea is just to let the audience sink into this world."
