Potter Payper 'Johnny On The Spot' by Kevin Hudson

Rob Ulitski - 1st Nov 2021

Kevin Hudson directs a high-energy performance promo for Potter Payper.

Released to coincide with his latest mixtape project, the video spans an incredible amount of vignettes in its four minute runtime, placing the rapper in a variety of contrasting situations, celebrating the good and bad in life.

Payper's performance takes centre-stage of course, eminating the raw, confident energy he's become known for, and the cinematography - especially the use of 180 degree flip transitions - adds a fresh dimension to the concept.

And as he explains below, this is an especially treasured project by Hudson, as it was his last with Luke Biggins, who died last month.

KEVIN HUDSON:

The project was only made possible... with the help of the legend that is Luke Biggins.

"We put a lot into this project as the song definitely deserved it. The aim was to use the difference in colours/tones and Potter's performance to reflect the cold bad times alongside the warm good times.

"We shot 11 scenes between three locations in one day, then a crazy quick turnaround with two days to edit, add VFX and grade.

"The project was only made possible through YellowFish with the help of the legend that is Luke Biggins. Being our last project together this video now means more than before."
