French illustrator/street artist/director/animator Frederick Venet directs an astoundingly creative animated promo for Elsa Y Elmar, synth-pop project of singer-songwriter Elsa Carvajal. 

The video for Sangre Entre Las Piernas (or Blood Between The Legs) sees a woman preparing for a date, before being thrust into a psychedelic world representing the difficulties of being a woman whilst menstruating. Here, she confronts symbols of social pressure to embrace her femininity.

Featuring stunning animation and hypnotic colour work, Venet's video balances important themes with a captivating aesthetic, evoking everything from The Beatles' Yellow Submarine to British illustrator/animator Alice Bloomfield in its style. 

It's a tour de force of creativity, completely absorbing in its execution, and a standout in the animated format this year to date.
