Haircut 100 'The Unloving Plum' by Bailey Tom Bailey
Rob Ulitski - 27th Sept 2024
Bailey Tom Bailey directs a humorous tribute to 1920s and 30s horror in his promo for Haircut 100. Yes, that Haircut 100 who were big in the early 1980s, returning with their first single in 40 years.
Bailey's video for The Unloving Plum has the aesthetic of the original Frankenstein - or perhaps Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein - complete with vintage black and white cinematography and old school effects, as the band frontman Nick Hayward plays a mad scientist in the midst of a gruesome experiment.
Ultimately it's an excellent performance piece for the band's catchy single - and the style and Frankenstein concept is rather appropriate for a band that has miraculously reanimated after four decades. Good to have them back - even if Nick Hayward looks in need of a haircut.
