Grajper and Maverick Sabre explore a topical subject with considerable wit for You Don't Even Need It.
Sabre is alone in a suburban home - but there are people pressed against the windows, obsessed with his every move. And then they invade the house, subjecting the soul singer to various indignities which he endures with calm resignation.
It's a strong metaphor for an issue raised by several pop stars recently about fans going too far in their sense of ownership of their idols. But by various means, from Sabre's understated performance, to the director's imaginative range of visual ideas - at one point, a model of Sabre's house bursts into flames - it's also well executed entertainment.        Â
Tied together by a gentle edit and naturalistic colour grade, the You Don't Even Need It video succeeds in touching upon on big issues of contemporary life, including mental health and regret, but it's not weighed down with self-importance. And Grajper shows more of the impressive visual virtuosity that marked out his recent, UKMVA-nominated video for STONE.
