Wouter Stoter's video for NONEXISTER plays with perception and deception, challenging what’s real and what’s just another illusion - which feels especially relevant today.

It presents two versions of NONEXISTER: the black version singing What A Lie and the white version singing What A Truth. The white figure first interferes, hijacking the broadcast, then fully takes control, pushing the black aside and shifting the balance of power. To push the concept further, Nik (NONEXISTER) wrote separate lyrics for the What A Truth section. So it’s actually two songs.

"We literally flipped the meaning of the original lyrics, and yes, AI helped with that," explains Stoter. "And just like in today’s world, claiming to tell the truth doesn’t mean much.

"Visually, we drew inspiration from propaganda, cults of personality, and the way influence shapes reality, with a strong nod to Barbara Kruger’s bold graphic style. We built a custom frame with small frames placed in front of slightly older LED screens, which were technically divided, creating the illusion of many separate screens.

"Everything was done live, giving it an ‘80s Nam June Paik Cold War feel - back when the world seemed to have clear good guys and bad guys… and fewer white teeth!"
