Telenova 'The Deep' by Minh Nguyen

David Knight - 6th Nov 2025
Angeline Armstrong of Telenova is targeted by a red light while dancing in a nightclub, triggering her flight into the streets of Sydney, in director Minh Nguyen's impressively cinematic video for The Deep, from the Aussie trio's sophomore album, out early next year.
During the course of Armstrong's journey and eventual escape from the city, Nguyen switches confidently between fever dream and gritty reality while capturing the singer's compelling performance on the move.
From the blurry sensibility in the nightclub to the harsh landing of the city street, her encounters with passers by and an inventive flashback to events in the club via street posters, the director fills each frame with ideas and rich detail that makes it a repeatedly worthwhile watch.Â
Angeline Armstrong says: "When Minh and I first met, I was so moved by his deep resonance with the song and the way it spoke to him, his vision for the music video was so emotionally aligned with the source of the song itself. It was so special to feel that connection and relatability immediately.
"The video for The Deep, like the song, is filled with imagery of surrender, failure, faith, returning - we hope that speaks to you wherever you’re at."
