Joy Crookes self-directs the promo for Perfect Crime, and gives a marvellous performance in the incredible setting of Dhaka, Bangladesh -&nbsp;the country of her mother’s birth.&nbsp;The video sees Joy in various locations around Dhaka - including riding atop a moving train. Throughout she pays homage to her heritage, the rich cultural life and vibrant spirit of the Bangladesh capital, while giving a characteristically charismatic and charming&nbsp;performance of the song.With outstanding work of DoP Donny Johnson, Joy inhabits each well-considered location in a way that reflects her name. Without missing a beat of how a performance video should look and feel, this does give the sense of someone coming back to their roots. And what a place this is.The fact that Joy directed the video followed on from having co-produced Perfect Crime for her forthcoming album Juniper&nbsp;with Harvey Grant. When her idea for the visuals crystallised, she wanted to carry the ownership of producing the song through by directing the video.“The choreography was intended to be quite simple and repetitive but against a foil of something that was almost overstimulating," she explains.&nbsp;"The location wasn’t even really a question. Dhaka, Bangladesh was the ideal backdrop. The city’s imperfect beauty and chaos imbues the video with an atmosphere that can’t be emulated or recreated. Harv Frost directs a gripping promo&nbsp;for indie rock outfit Black Honey where lead singer Izzy Baxter Phillips is a prisoner, confronted with&nbsp;a barrage of distressing&nbsp;scenes.Rather than Hitchcock - as the songtitle might suggest - the&nbsp;video for Psycho&nbsp;pays homage to&nbsp;Kubrick - in particular the notorious 'aversion therapy' scenes in A Clockwork Orange. Like Alex in the movie, Izzy is similarly strapped to a chair, repeatedly forced to watch a fast-cut montage of&nbsp;traumatic imagery, monitored by Establishment males, played by her bandmates.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Izzy falls into a hallucinatory cycle,&nbsp;catching eye of a shocking image - and it is quite a shock - as she is led to the chair. She gives a captivating performance as her&nbsp;mental state deteriorates, and then escapes her captivity to find the paraphanalia driving her torture.But is she a Psycho? Laurence Warder directs an entertaining&nbsp;surreal adventure for Rag'n'Bone Man, where the artist's body and head meet for the first time.The video for Pocket is a colourful and surreal take on the feeling of a first date, and being 'put in someone's pocket' - and it takes Rory Graham, aka Rag'n'Bone Man, in a&nbsp;more lighthearted direction in a video than we have previously seen.With judicious use of VFX - including a head designed by Will Harvey at Monster FX -&nbsp;Warder gives his interpretation of putting oneself back together, as the delivery of a&nbsp;surprise package - Rag'n'Bone Man's head - begins a whirlwind relationship between head and body, set against&nbsp;the backdrop of Margate's seafront.The visual effects and experimental perspectives add a hallucinatory feel to the visual, which ramps up in weirdness right until the climax, where the artist is able to put himself together again.&nbsp;Absorbing and fun, and certainly&nbsp;different to a usual Rag'n'Bone visual, it absolutely knocks it out the park.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;

The bandmembers of British metalcore outfit Bury Tomorrow are transfixed by mesmeric vortex-based event in Ricky Allen's cinematic video.The visual for Villian Arc is a slow-burning build to a series of unsettling, atmospheric&nbsp;VFX-fired moments, twisting the everyday, that supplement the sense of foreboding supplied by the track.As it turns out, it was the mundane everyday that provided Allen with his inspiration for the video.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]"To me, this song embodies transformation, for better or worse, whether it's felt within yourself or recognised by others," says Allen. "These changes don't typically happen like in the movies; instead, they often occur during our everyday routines - like doing laundry. You know, the really boring stuff."I found this to be a particularly interesting train of thought. Though, I should remind myself not to start my pitch with, "Yeah, so there's this washing machine…”. That tends to get some concerned looks."I've always had an odd fear of a washing machine's spin cycle in an empty room (feel free to quote me on that). It reminds me of that scene from Home Alone when Kevin ventures into the basement and confronts the furnace. So, when I heard the opening riff of this song, my mind instantly pictured a washing machine spinning and then starting to emit light. This imagery became the foundation for the video."
