Sigala, Paloma Faith 'Lullaby' by Craig Moore
David Knight - 13th Mar 2018
Craig Moore collaborates for a sixth time with Sigala for Lullaby - a dead cert to be a 2018 summer anthem – featuring Paloma Faith. Shot in Cape Town, Moore's striking, colourful video has Paloma singing a sweet lullaby that has the contrary effect to the norm: characters don't fall asleep, but wake up to find themselves in a series of stunning landscapes.
With simple styling to emphasise the scale and beauty of the locations, each performer goes through a journey as they digest their surroundings, begin to move gracefully within it, and gradually take on an increasingly celebratory mood.
CRAIG MOORE:
“We really had a blank canvas with this, and like past Sigala videos, we wanted to include dance. However, this was slightly different as we were conveying themes of escapism as the characters drifted off into faraway lands, waking up on a simple bed in the middle of nowhere.
"For this reason, I wanted to cast dancers that had a certain flow to their style - less aggressive and commercial feeling, but more dreamy, graceful and expressive. Ballet was a big inspiration and seemed like a great contrast to our empty landscapes.
"We gave the dancers the scope to wake up and explore the space, gradually progressing into routines that showcased this sense of freedom and escape."
