Melody Maker directs a transcendent promo for new RCA signing Rhett Nicholl.
Shot on 16mm, we see the artist performing in an apartment surrounded by religious iconography, as an otherworldly sun burns through the windows and drenches the location in a saturated yellow light.Â
Layered with abstract cutaways and experimental animation, the cinematography by Thomas English is gorgeous, perfectly suited to the concept, and the use of multiple formats adds a contemporary spin to the nostalgic style.Â
