World's First Cinema 'Make Me A Monster' by Lewis Cater
Rob Ulitski - 7th June 2021
Lewis Cater directs a fascinating spin on the Frankenstein story, in this minacious promo for Los Angeles-based duo World's First Cinema.Â
In the video for Make Me A Monster, we see a trio of dancers surrounding a mystery man, performing ritualistic movements as a preacher spouts Latin phrases from a seemingly ancient text.Â
The mystery man and preacher were in fact played by band members John and Fil.
Breathing life into the character, he is soon on his feet and ready for a sweeping violin solo, adding a sense of drama and intrigue to the project.Â
Beautifully realised with top-notch cinematography and art direction, it's a wonderful introduction to the theatrical world of the artists.
LEWIS CATER:Â
I spent evenings on Zoom with the band speaking about how crazy we wanted this video to be.
"Make Me A Monster'is the first video from fast-rising, LA-based orchestral-pop duo World's First Cinema. MMAM is the first intimate look into the fantasy world that the band is building.
"The video especially highlights this - witches, rituals, druids and monsters coming to life amidst the explosion of strings and cinematic rock. I spent many lockdown evenings on Zoom with the band, speaking about how crazy we wanted this video to be.
"The spell has been cast, the ritual is complete and I'm excited that we can now share this video with the world!"
