Paul Heaton 'Fish ‘n’ Chip Supper' by Andy Hylton
Promonews - 17th July 2024
Andy Hylton directs his tenth music video for Paul Heaton telling the tale of a Manchester husband’s mission to get the fish supper being scuppered by his mates down the pub - featuring Pearce Quigley and Diane Morgan as his 'hangry' wife.
Heaton's new song Fish N Chip Supper evokes a feeling of a more fun time in our social history, realised in Hylton's video in the use of an old Routemaster bus, old Hollywood-style dance routines - choreographed by Paul Heaton’s daughter Maisie - and its film noir tone, through the lens of DoP Bruce Meluish.
“We called it ‘Moss Side Story’ with a mix of dance and gritty street locations," says Hylton. "Paul Heaton and I have built a strong creative relationship over the last 10 years and I think he trusts where I take his video concepts.
"We had both watched Ripley on Netflix recently and loved the bus shots on the Amalfi coast, so we decided to take it down the black-and-white route and film in the beauty of South Manchester.
“It’s always fun putting pictures to music and capturing the wit and storytelling within Paul’s songwriting. He should definitely be considered a national treasure.”
